Director Logistics - Volunteer

About This Role

This leadership volunteer role involves organizing fundraising events as part of a committee of 10 to 15 volunteers. The Director of Logistics will motivate and support committee members in creating the infrastructure for special event days, focusing on operational plans and participant experience. The role is crucial for ensuring a seamless and meaningful experience for both volunteers and participants.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with the Relay Director, Community Engagement to create a successful event
• Motivate and support committee members in functional roles
• Manage portfolios focused on tangible aspects of event planning such as logistics, entertainment, ceremonies, registration, volunteers, and finance
• Prepare all operational plans for event day, focusing on logistics and participant experience
• Share key event and organizational information with the CCS Staff Partner and committee members
• Support and coordinate committee members' initiatives as they develop their plans
• Pitch in and pull final details together on event day
• Provide feedback and debriefing post-event to ensure continuous improvement

Requirements

• Understanding that cancer can change everything and that community support helps people affected by cancer
• Leadership skills to motivate a group of volunteers and move objectives forward
• Understanding of the community and how to connect and involve people in Relay events
• Ability to track details and motivate committee volunteers while prioritizing participant experience

• Commitment: significant leadership role, ongoing level of commitment
• Schedule: regular monthly meetings with the entire committee, small group or one-to-one mentorship meetings with committee members between meetings, increased time commitment as event date approaches
