Director, Broadcasting and Engineering

About This Role

Directing the engineering of broadcast infrastructures, maintaining the RF network, and ensuring the resilience of critical IT/OT systems are the core responsibilities of this strategic and operational leadership role. The Director will guarantee the integrity, performance, and resilience of the broadcast chain to the highest industry standards across the entire network. This position suits a seasoned leader who can bridge technical excellence with the company's business vision.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mobilize, and inspire a team of technical managers and infrastructure maintenance technicians across the network
• Oversee skill development and continuous training for team members to support their professional growth and ensure technical succession
• Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and rigor within the technical department
• Drive the ideation, planning, and delivery of major engineering and broadcast projects for Cogeco Média
• Lead the implementation of new technologies by defining, in synergy with the technology group, guidelines, target architectures, work methodologies, and delivery monitoring
• Evaluate and recommend innovative and robust technological solutions that meet the organization's business and production needs
• Ensure the sustainability of infrastructures by managing the lifecycle, evolutions, and maintenance of assets within the technological ecosystem
• Actively contribute to Cogeco Média's long-term technological vision
• Collaborate closely with other departments to anticipate and effectively meet content production needs
• Act as an internal partner by translating business and operational objectives into concrete and high-performing technological solutions
• Manage relationships with external partners: negotiate and manage major infrastructure contracts (pylon/tower rental, telecom providers) and service level agreements (SLA)
• Guarantee the integrity of the signal chain (from source to transmitter), implement and maintain a high-availability architecture (99.999% SLA), and manage preventive maintenance of transmitter sites
• Supervise regulatory compliance of broadcast sites (RF field exposure standards/Safety Code 6, ISED/CRTC requirements)
• In conjunction with other technology departments, develop and execute business continuity and crisis management plans to ensure near-zero downtime for broadcast operations
• Develop capital expenditure (CapEx) files and ensure sound management of operating budgets dedicated to your department
• Conduct active technological watch to foster innovation and identify emerging market trends
• Regularly analyze operational performance and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and processes to optimize network productivity and reliability
