Direct Support Professional

About This Role

Working one-on-one with clients in their homes, the Direct Support Professional provides essential in-home assistance, companionship, and support for community building. This role is ideal for someone dedicated to helping seniors and people with disabilities, offering meaningful work and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Help clients with day-to-day activities like preparing meals, cleaning, dressing, grooming, laundry, monitoring vital signs, bathing, toileting, technology, and other basic activities
• Join clients in playing games, arts and crafts, and accompany them to events outside the home like appointments, grocery shopping, and running errands
• Create a safe and positive living situation for clients by communicating with the family and other staff about any concerns or challenges

Requirements

• A HS Diploma or GED
• A valid driver’s license
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain prior to employment
• Access to insured and reliable transportation
• Recognition of the needs of others, and the ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds
• Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to spend evenings and weekends caring for clients with dignity, patience, and compassion
• Dedication to professional development, including organizational and state-required training
• Caregivers must comply with state background screening requirements
