Position Summary
The James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership (formerly Anderson School of Management) at The University of New Mexico (UNM) is looking for a detail-oriented, resourceful, and tech-savvy individual to join our Communications & Events team as a Digital Systems Specialist (Operations Specialist). Reporting directly to our Communications & Events Operations Manager, the Digital Systems Specialist will support key digital communication and workflow tools by maintaining the Ellis website, managing digital signage content, and building and updating Smartsheet solutions to support day-to-day operations.
Now is an exciting time to join our team. In May 2026, UNM received a historic $30 million gift from longtime supporters James and Gail Ellis to be directed toward the advancement of business leadership education at UNM. In recognition of their generosity, the Anderson School of Management was renamed The James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership.

The successful candidate will have a passion and proven track record for improving digital systems, keeping content current, building efficient tools that support communication and operations. and a desire and ability to learn.
Specific duties will include:
- Maintaining and updating website content to ensure information is accurate, current, and aligned with Ellis and University standards;
- Managing digital signage content, including scheduling, posting, and coordinating updates across displays;
- Building, organizing, and maintaining Smartsheet workflows, forms, and tracking tools to support the Communications and Events operational needs;
- Coordinating with internal partners to gather content, troubleshoot issues, and implement updates across digital platforms;
- Monitoring digital tools and systems for accuracy, useability, and consistency, recommending improvements as needed;
- Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated effective work experience maintaining a dynamic, active website.
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, responsive web design, and content management systems, with the ability to maintain and enhance website content and functionality. Experience with Cascade content management system is a plus.
- Experience applying information architecture, SEO, accessibility (WCAG), and website optimization best practices to improve content discoverability, performance, and user experience.
- Familiarity with usability and user experience (UX) principles, including evaluating and recommending improvements to website organization, navigation, and engagement.
- Experience managing digital content. Experience maintaining digital signage is a plus.
- Experience building, updating, maintaining workflows in Smartsheet.
- Ability to balance strong attention to detail with timeline sensitive work
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills and methodologies for tracking projects and status
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of individuals at different levels in the organization
