Duties
This DHA Recent Graduate position provides a learning opportunity to enhance future goals and improve your knowledge with work experience in a working environment.

Plans, organizes, conducts, and evaluates discrete, limited elements of an internal information program that ensures the free flow of information to Air Force people and families to help maintain morale, readiness, productivity, and retention. Plans, researches, writes, localizes, edits, and produces news and feature articles, commentaries, fact sheets, biographies, newsletters, briefings, and other informational products as directed to support higher-level Public Affairs specialists.

Plans, organizes, conducts, and evaluates discrete, limited elements of a community relations program that helps tell the Air Force story to the American public and build informed public support for the Air Force by creating mutual acceptance, respect, appreciation, and cooperation between the Air Force and the community. With higher graded Public Affairs specialists, actively works with local community organizations including chambers of commerce, civic clubs, schools, local governments, and other community organizations on efforts of mutual interest.

Plans, organizes, conducts, and evaluates discrete, limited elements of the media relations program that ensures a free flow of information to the public through the news media, bringing Air Force issues to the public agenda and gaining and maintaining informed public support for Air Force policies, programs, activities, and issues. Informational products as directed.

Assigns higher-level Public Affairs specialists in conducting Public Affairs strategic communication, operational, and resource planning; and performs special assignments in keeping with the formal training plan. Helps higher-level specialists ensure Public Affairs activities are conducted in accordance with applicable doctrine, policy, guidance, instructions, public law, and precedents.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of communication principles, methods, and techniques to plan, conduct, coordinate, and evaluate Public Affairs activities to develop communication between an organization and a variety of audiences that promotes the goals, values, and priorities of the organization.
  2. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal leadership and a variety of publics.
  3. Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to identify potential problems and opportunities, arrive at valid conclusions and offer meaningful resolutions and recommendations.
  4. Skill in writing, editing, and presenting material to inform various audiences through print, broadcast, and new media.
  5. Skill in planning, developing, executing, and evaluating community relations and civic outreach activities to gain and maintain public awareness and support and to establish mutual acceptance, respect, appreciation, and cooperation between an organization and local communities.
  6. Skill in collecting, analyzing, preparing, and disseminating information through external news media to inform the public about the agency's mission; working with and responding to media representatives; and conducting security and policy review of information and materials proposed for public presentation.

This position has an education requirement. You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Degree Audits are not accepted. NOTE: Failure to provide transcripts will result in non-consideration for applicable position. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
