About This Role
Designing and modeling electrical substation projects is the core of this role, which involves delivering high-quality drawings and coordinating with clients and technical leads. The position suits a designer with experience in BIM modeling and a strong understanding of primary design principles.
Responsibilities
- Deliver drawings to desired quality standards and according to mutually agreed timelines with the client
- Communicate confidently with clients or foreign counterparts
- Work in a team to deliver projects on time
- Attend meetings with technical leads
- Perform primary design/modeling/drafting activities such as Key SLDs, AC/DC SLDs, cable schedules, interconnection schedules, specifications, and Bulk MTO
- Apply broad practical knowledge to design/modeling layouts and produce equipment layouts for outdoor switchyards, indoor substations, trench/tray layouts, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection layouts
- Resolve any design/drafting issues and coordinate effectively with leads
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and communicate work with team members on all design aspects of the project
- Attend client meetings for technical clarifications
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations or author technical memorandums and other documents
Requirements
- Diploma is preferable
- 3 years of experience in designing and BIM modeling of AIS/GIS Substation projects and knowledge of primary design (AIS and GIS Substation experience up to 400kV is desirable)
- Design and modeling of (Concept, FEED, and detail design) of T and D systems up to 400kV for Utility companies based on international standards for Middle East, UK, Australia, and US regions
- Capable of working under challenging workload subject to change at short notice
- Good communication and IT skills
- Clear knowledge of work procedures and ability to work independently
- Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and excellent working knowledge of Revit/Inventor Substation modeling software and clash detection, NavisWorks, Revizto
- Experienced in developing, implementing, and design automation project execution plans
Nice to have:
- Automation tools like Dynamo, RF tools, Ideate, Cobie knowledge
- Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, BIM360
