Design Engineer

About This Role

This Design Engineer role at Northrop Grumman's Space Sector involves supporting modeling, drafting, and engineering within the Digital Design and Integration group. The position focuses on creating and maintaining 3D geometric models and detailed engineering drawings for mechanical components, electrical harnesses, and assemblies in the aerospace industry. Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D geometric models of mechanical components, electrical harnesses, and assemblies using Siemens NX design tools
• Annotate PMI models and/or produce detailed engineering drawings using established NG and program design procedures
• Investigate design challenges and generate innovative solutions to meet technical requirements
• Create detailed, production-ready drawings for next-generation rocket motor designs
• Support the definition, development, and qualification of design changes to meet programmatic goals
• Apply technical skills and knowledge to achieve engineering objectives, including technical performance, cost optimization, and adherence to schedules
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s in Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent with 0 years of professional experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
• CAD related experience (Siemens NX preferred)

Nice to have:

• Experience with Siemens NX with PMI in Teamcenter Unified Architecture
• Experience in Engineering Design, Drafting, Manufacturing or Quality
• Strong organizational skills

Important Details

• Schedule: 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off
• Travel: Yes, 10% of the time
