About the role

Role Purpose

We're looking for a detail-oriented Delegated Authority Technician to join our team supporting delegated underwriting operations. This is a flexible hybrid role with the opportunity to work primarily from home, alongside occasional attendance at the office for team collaboration, meetings, and training.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Excel skills who enjoys working with data, analysing information, and maintaining accurate records. Previous insurance experience would be beneficial, but candidates with transferable data and administrative skills who are keen to develop a career in insurance are encouraged to apply.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will help process bordereaux, maintain data quality, produce reports, and ensure information is handled accurately and efficiently.

Key Accountabilities

  • Process risk, premium and claims bordereaux, ensuring data is accurate and completed within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain spreadsheets, reports and management information using Excel.
  • Monitor gross written premium and notifiable limits, ensuring timely reporting.
  • Produce regular reports and ad-hoc analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Lloyd's Regulatory Standards and FCA principles.
  • Use Lloyd's systems efficiently and adapt to new systems, procedures, and DA structures.
  • Support the team and manager with day-to-day operations and project work.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners to obtain and validate information.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Align with GDPR, the Bribery Act 2010, anti-money laundering regulations, and sanctions policies.
  • Uphold Howden's standards, market best practices, and the CII Code of Ethics.
  • Adhere to the firm's Treating Customers Fairly policy and segregation of duties guidelines.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in insurance, financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Exposure to bordereaux, underwriting administration, reporting or data processing.
  • Knowledge of delegated authority processes.
  • Experience using insurance or reporting systems.
  • A working knowledge of Lloyds systems, Atlas, DCOM, IMR.
  • Working towards or interested in studying for CII qualifications.
