POSITION TITLE: Hearing Impaired Special Education Teacher SALARY SCHEDULE:Click here9 Month Teacher (Salary based on employment for complete year) REPORTS TO: Principal and Student Services Coordinator EVALUATION: Current Alabama Evaluation Program SUPERVISES: None DAYS / HOURS: 187 Days / 7.5 Hours FLSA STATUS: Exempt Qualification: 1. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with hearing impaired certification 2. Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or related field from an accredited college/university Responsibilities: Determines individual and class needs. Supervises students in educational settings. Establishes objectives and develops and implements a program of instruction that meets theindividual needs and abilities of students. Develops instructional activities that are consistent with local and state courses of study andcurriculum guides. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meetobjectives. Assists teachers in the location, preparation, and development of materials for inclusion studentinto the regular classroom. Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and studentoutcomes and maintains appropriate evaluation documentation. Communicates to student and parents/guardians (either in writing or verbally) instructionalexpectations, student progress or lack of progress. Keeps detailed documentation of student progress by efficiently maintaining and submittingappropriate records and reports. Coordinates and conducts regular IEP meetings for IDEA students. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learningatmosphere in the classroom and in other areas of the school. Actively participates in and works with other school personnel in selection of books, equipment,and other instructional materials and participates in the planning of effective instructional goals,objectives, methods, and curriculum. Exhibits positive human relations skills. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership. Maintains proper certification by attending college, workshop and professional developmentcourses. Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board,the Superintendent, administrators, certificated and non-certificated personnel, parents, andstudents. Attends all faculty meetings, PTA meetings, and other meetings as required by theSuperintendent. Performs co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and other school related duties (hall,lunchroom, playground, drop-off and pick-up, bus, etc.) as assigned by the Superintendent. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Background Check Required: Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Additional Details: 1. Position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Cullman City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by internal applicants by means of transfer 2. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial year of employment if hired after September 30.
