About the role
Job Summary The Database Administrator is responsible for managing the performance, security, and maintenance of databases. This role ensures data integrity, performs system backups, optimizes performance, and supports users while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and implement database structures based on organizational requirements.
- Conduct systems analysis to address database needs in alignment with business processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements for database solutions.
- Analyze and revise existing system logic for moderately complex workflows and systems.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including tuning queries and database configurations.
- Implement and manage security measures to protect sensitive data, including access controls and encryption.
- Develop and maintain backup procedures and disaster recovery plans to ensure data availability and integrity.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability within the database.
- Maintain and update SQL code to correct errors and enhance functionality.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards and assist with audits.
- Partner with business process experts to understand database problems and recommend enhancements and solutions.
- Plan for future database capacity and storage needs, assessing current usage and forecasting growth.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Carry out non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, following general instructions from a supervisor.
- Work with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of three years of related experience in database administration.
- Experience within a healthcare environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with Epic EHR preferred.
Schedule Notes
- Support for 200 miscellaneous healthcare applications.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed by projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related field required.
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator required.
- SQL Database Administration required.
