Database Administrator

About This Role

Serving as a Database Administrator, you will support the client's Corporate Business Information Systems, providing Oracle database support for Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, Momentum, and PeopleSoft applications. This role requires a thorough understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Linux operating systems, and you will also administer MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL database systems such as MarkLogic, MongoDB, and DynamoDB. You will also provide customer support to the client on multiple networks.

Responsibilities

• Provide Oracle database support for Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, Momentum, and PeopleSoft applications
• Administer MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL database systems such as MarkLogic, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
• Provide customer support to the client on multiple networks
• Work with Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RDBMS 19c, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c
• Utilize thorough working knowledge of Oracle ASM, AWS (EC2, EBS-volumes, snapshots, DMS, DynamoDB, Lambda, and S3)
• Perform RMAN backups/restores, database exports/imports
• Formulate ad-hoc SQL queries and interrogate databases to troubleshoot and resolve low-level system/performance issues
• Perform duties within established policies, procedures, and service level agreements
• Assist in the resolution of other wide-ranging application issues, software/hardware failures, and/or network problems
• Resolve complex system failures, troubleshoot software, hardware, and network problems, and address Service Center incident tickets
• Maintain user accounts and ACLs on network file systems
• Ensure data recoverability by maintaining a schedule of system backups, snapshots, and database archive log operations
• Achieve optimal performance and availability by assessing, implementing, and managing appropriate technical solutions
• Conduct routine server audits to monitor compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and configuration guidelines
• Communicate frequently with internal, external, and vendor contacts
• Be available for after-hours and on-call support

Requirements

• BS degree in CS, IS, engineering, or other technical discipline
• 10 years' experience
• AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification
• Install and administer Oracle Grid Infrastructure, RDBMS, Cloud Control, and ASM technologies
• Administer Linux OS and associated file systems
• Develop, manage, and maintain administrative scripts written in a variety of languages
• Provide O&M functions such as database cloning, performance optimization, usage monitoring, mirroring, and research and installation of current patches
• Perform and maintain database snapshot, backup, and disaster recovery processes
• Provide impact assessment for system-level changes on existing infrastructure
• Participate in technical exchanges providing well-articulated subject matter expertise
• Ensure compliance with computer security and accreditation policies
• IT security expertise
• Interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Visual acuity to work on a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to move from one workstation to another
• Top Secret clearance (SCI eligible) with ability to successfully complete a polygraph

Nice to have:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional
• Oracle Cloud Certification
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft applications and processes, geospatial products, and COP management
