About This Role
The Database Administrator will manage and optimize the company's data infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and performance within the Fintech industry. This role is for an experienced professional with hands-on expertise in SQL Server.
Responsibilities
- Manage and administer SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance
- Implement and maintain database security protocols and ensure data integrity
- Handle migration, updating, patching, always on, mirroring, log shipping, DR, FCI, and replication, including transaction replication
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify and address bottlenecks and other performance issues
- Optimize SQL queries and database configurations for enhanced efficiency
- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data
- Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to ensure data availability
- Collaborate with data architects to design and implement effective data models
- Ensure database schemas align with business requirements and industry best practices
- Conduct capacity planning to anticipate future data growth and recommend infrastructure enhancements as needed
- Work closely with IT and development teams to ensure scalability
- Enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive financial data
- Stay informed about industry regulations and compliance requirements related to data management, including RBAC, Integrated Security, Logon Triggers, Auditing, and BCP
- Implement monitoring solutions to track database performance and generate alerts for potential issues
- Respond promptly to database-related incidents and troubleshoot as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2.5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Administrator, with a focus on SQL Server
- Proficient in SQL scripting and query optimization
- Strong knowledge of database security and best practices
- Experience with Fintech systems and understanding financial data structures
- Problem-solving and communication skills
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions
