About This Role
The Database Administrator will manage and maintain database systems, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning. This contract role involves ensuring high availability and data integrity, working with development and infrastructure teams, and documenting procedures. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain database systems, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning
- Handle backup and recovery
- Manage user access and security
- Troubleshoot database issues
- Ensure high availability and data integrity
- Work with development and infrastructure teams to support database design changes
- Optimize queries
- Implement replication strategies
- Document procedures
- Follow established governance and compliance standards
- Support scheduled maintenance and upgrades
Requirements
- Strong skills in Database Administration and Databases to manage, secure, and optimize production environments
- Skills in Database Design to structure schemas, indexes, and relationships for performance and scalability
- Skills in Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve database performance, availability, and configuration issues
- Skills in Replication to implement and maintain data redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery strategies
- At least 3 years’ experience with databases at an enterprise level
- Minimum qualification of at least a degree
- Well versed with Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Able to work independently
Nice to have:
- Experience with common relational database systems (such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL)
- Knowledge of backup strategies, security best practices, and monitoring tools
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and work independently on-site
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Certifications in databases
