About The Role
The Senior Operations Research Scientist role is a key position within McKesson's Enterprise Data Science Team, specifically within the Operations Research group. This role is responsible for architecting and implementing advanced simulation and optimization solutions to enhance supply chain efficiency and decision-making. The successful candidate will work on strategic projects related to inventory optimization, transportation, and network modeling, applying data science and operations research methodologies to solve complex interdisciplinary business problems. The role involves developing statistical models, deriving actionable insights, and driving innovation to improve McKesson's supply chain operations. The candidate should be an active learner, capable of grasping new analytic approaches and applying them effectively to real-world challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; PhD preferred
• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in operations research, data science, or supply chain analytics
• Demonstrated experience in developing stochastic process simulations for business decision support
• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and modern machine learning techniques
• Proficiency in data wrangling using SQL
• Experience with statistical modeling in Python and/or R
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex results to technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Design and develop digital twins, simulation frameworks, and optimization models to support decision-making in supply chain areas such as inventory, transportation, and labor planning
• Translate simulation and optimization outputs into clear, actionable recommendations for business partners
• Implement stochastic process simulation solutions to guide strategic and operational decisions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation
• Drive adoption of new analytic tools and solutions across the organization
• Measure and report on the impact of implemented solutions to ensure continuous improvement
• Stay current with advancements in operations research, data science, and supply chain management to incorporate best practices
