Data Scientist

About This Role

Joining ElectraNet's Network team in Adelaide, the Data Scientist will help shape the technology supporting South Australia's clean energy future. This role involves working with complex engineering data to build practical data automation, integration, and analytical solutions that improve data accessibility, strengthen engineering decisions, and improve how work is delivered. The successful candidate will partner with power system engineers and Network leaders to solve real-world challenges and expand their knowledge of the electricity market and Australia's energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Identify and deliver automation opportunities across engineering and analytical processes
• Translate stakeholder needs into secure, scalable, and practical technical solutions
• Build scripts, data pipelines, and analytical tools that integrate, validate, analyse, and report data from multiple sources
• Automate repeatable workflows using supported interfaces to engineering and power-system applications
• Apply statistical, time-series, or machine-learning methods where appropriate
• Develop clear dashboards and visualisations using business intelligence tools such as Power BI
• Apply appropriate testing, version control, and documentation practices while collaborating across engineering, data governance, cybersecurity, and technology teams

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or data science
• At least two years' experience in engineering, analytics, data science, or software development
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience in data integration, analytics, or statistical methods
• The ability to turn data and stakeholder needs into practical technical solutions
• Knowledge of data quality, software testing, documentation, and version control
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Azure Analytics, AI/ML driven process, power-system data, or electricity-industry data
