About the role

About FullStack FullStack is your AI-native engineering partner, built to turn AI capability into certainty. Most companies can demo AI; few can get it to production and prove what it produced. With now over 600 customers in North America, FullStack is one integrated partner for all your AI engineering needs. With FullStack, you move forward with confidence.

  • Our 4.1-star rating on GlassDoor.
  • Our client Net Promoter Score of 68, twice the industry average.

The Position We are looking for an entrepreneurial, client-facing Data Practice Lead to spearhead and scale our newly formalized Data Competency. This is a high-impact, hybrid role, part technical architect, part pre-sales strategist, and part internal practice leader. You will act as the face of our data offerings to executive-level clients while simultaneously serving as the technical north star for our internal data engineering talent.

As a key leader in our competency-driven growth strategy, you will bridge the gap between complex data technologies and business solutions. You'll be responsible for defining our data engineering standards, collaborating with elite technology partners like Snowflake and Databricks, and turning technical pre-sales conversations into multi-million dollar delivery engagements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Practice & Competency Leadership: Own, define, and scale the Data Engineering competency across FullStack. Set the standard for internal best practices, identify critical training paths, and establish what it takes to be a successful data engineer on client projects.
  • Pre-Sales Strategy & Technical Scoping: Partner closely with business development and account management teams to lead consultative pre-sales discovery. Translate C-suite business pain points into robust data architectures and deliver compelling technical pitches.
  • Offerings Development: Build, productize, and mature our market-facing data services and solutions. Stay ahead of market shifts to continuously articulate what a "data-realized offering" looks like for our enterprise and SMB clients.
  • Strategic Partner Alliances: Act as our primary technical liaison with elite cloud database and data platform partners (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks), driving co-selling initiatives and modern architectural alignments.
  • Internal Team Mentorship: Guide, mentor, and provide clear technical direction to our internal pool of data engineers, ensuring teams are equipped to execute high-fidelity deliveries.
  • Hands-On Architectural Governance: Maintain a deeply hands-on approach. Step into complex, high-stakes engagements to draft initial architectures, validate delivery frameworks, and ensure engineering alignment.
  • Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Drive engagements from the initial "warm intro" and solution design phases through to project kickoff and eventual account expansion.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in deep data architecture, data engineering, or technical delivery management within a digital services, tech consulting, or advanced software engineering environment.
  • Proven Pre-Sales Track Record: Clear experience supporting enterprise-level sales cycles, scoping complex technical data initiatives, and structuring advisory or implementation projects.
  • Data Stack Fluency: Deep, hands-on architectural experience with modern cloud data platforms, specifically Databricks and Snowflake, alongside a strong foundational command of enterprise databases and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • People & Practice Leadership: Demonstrated success leading a pool of technical professionals, defining engineering competencies, and setting training standards.
  • Executive-Level Communication: Exceptional ability to translate sophisticated data concepts into high-level business value for non-technical stakeholders, while retaining the technical credibility to go deep with client architects.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Advanced certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Databricks Certified Solutions Architect, Snowflake Certified Architect).
  • Experience collaborating with and leading cross-border, distributed engineering teams across the US and LATAM (specifically Colombia).
  • A background in designing customized data frameworks that support advanced AI and machine learning initiatives.

Cultural Alignment

  • Hands-on & Proactive: You thrive in an environment that values execution over hierarchy. You are eager to get your hands dirty designing a solution, yet fully capable of zooming out to present a vision to a board of directors.
  • Consulting Mindset: You don't just wait for an RFP or a list of requirements; you actively listen to client challenges, shape demand, and bring creative data solutions to the table.
  • Autonomous & Scrappy: You are comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced environment, looking at an undefined competency roadmap as an exciting blank canvas to build upon.
