Data Center Technician

About This Role

Joining Reboot Monkey as a Data Center Technician involves supporting critical infrastructure at data center facilities as an independent contractor. This opportunity is for freelancers comfortable working independently and accepting assignments based on client demand, with work generally within or near the technician's local area.

Responsibilities

• Install, rack, stack, and decommission server and network equipment
• Perform structured cabling, including copper and fiber-optic connections
• Replace hardware components and perform basic physical troubleshooting
• Assist with equipment deployments, migrations, and upgrades
• Troubleshoot physical connectivity, cabling, and hardware issues
• Maintain accurate documentation, asset records, and ticket updates
• Follow site procedures, technical instructions, and safety requirements
• Coordinate with project managers, remote teams, and data center personnel
• Complete assigned tasks independently and escape issues when necessary

Additional Responsibilities for Technicians with Advanced Technical Experience (Tier 3):

• Advanced Cisco or Juniper routing and switching configuration
• VLANs, routing protocols, ACLs, and network security
• Complex network and server troubleshooting, including root cause analysis
• Data center migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and network reconfiguration
• Automation, scripting, and advanced server/network configuration
• Troubleshooting complex connectivity issues across multiple devices and systems

Requirements

• Legal right to work in the country of assignment
• Ability to undertake work legally under existing work authorization and contractor arrangement
• No requirement for employer sponsorship now or in the future
