About the role

Duties
This position serves as the Data Center Infrastructure Specialist, responsible for accomplishing or assuring the accomplishment of all aspects of data center infrastructure management including; requirements management, architectural design, data center electrical infrastructure, data center Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC), IT equipment installation and cabling and asset management for all data center production IT systems.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Managing and monitoring critical power infrastructure including utility power feeds, electrical switchgear, emergency generators, Uninterruptable Power Units (UPS), and Power Distribution Units (PDU) ensuring that equipment is maintained and operated utilizing industry best practices and is kept up to required standards.
  • Administering and managing information technology (IT) projects for major office or program issues of broad impact.
  • Providing leadership, direction and oversight to contractors performing full lifecycle management and support data center infrastructure systems and projects.
  • Leading work in the end-to-end installation and maintenance of data center infrastructure systems with complex designs.
  • Providing project management coordination and liaison between client and Industry Partner and ensures proper staffing of tasks and projects.
  • Providing client assistance as necessary with task order closeouts and funding issues.

Qualifications
AT THE GS-12 LEVEL:
Applicants must have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Examples of specialized experience include: The application of many different and unrelated processes and methods to a broad of data center infrastructure activities or to the in-depth analysis of infrastructure issues. Analyze changes in programs, technological developments, events that cannot be predicted, conflicting requirements to decide what needs to be done and how to do it. Undertaking in special projects, ongoing analyses, investigations and initiative with high priority for high-level management, such as, producing complex written reports.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
