About The Role
The Data Analyst role at Optum involves managing and manipulating structured data to support business intelligence initiatives. You will work closely with various business units to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive strategic decisions and operational improvements. Your responsibilities include designing data models, developing data solutions, conducting detailed analyses, and interpreting complex data sets to uncover patterns and trends. The role requires effective communication of insights to senior leadership through compelling presentations and reports. You will also be tasked with ensuring data quality, normalization, and integration across multiple sources. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely within the U.S., with specific in-office requirements for employees in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis and report development
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field
- Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Snowflake, Python, R, AWS, Tableau, Power BI
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management abilities
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and analysts
- Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and changing business priorities
- Self-motivated with a strong problem-solving mindset
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Lines of Business to identify data-driven opportunities for business solutions
- Provide empirical analysis and strategic insights to clinical operations and other functions
- Design and develop data models, data marts, ETL processes, and data integration workflows
- Mine and analyze data from diverse sources to optimize product development and business strategies
- Conduct analysis to recognize patterns, trends, and perform normalization to ensure data quality
- Develop actionable insights and present recommendations to stakeholders across the organization
- Create dashboards, visualizations, and decision aids using BI tools to support organizational needs
- Stay current with emerging industry trends, technologies, and data sources to enhance analytical capabilities
- Manage project plans for large-scale analytics initiatives, ensuring timely delivery
