Transforming data into actionable insights that support business decision-making is the primary focus of this Data Analyst role. The position requires a strong understanding of business context, effective stakeholder engagement, analytical thinking, and data visualisation expertise to communicate insights effectively.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of business processes, operational challenges, and policy objectives
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytical requirements
- Analyse datasets to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance indicators
- Provide recommendations and insights that support data-driven decision-making
- Build, enhance, and maintain dashboards for performance reporting, operational monitoring, and user behaviour analytics
- Design intuitive and impactful visualisations that effectively communicate complex findings to business users
- Apply data storytelling techniques to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Define and track business metrics
- Query, clean, and analyse data using SQL, Python, and Databricks
- Validate and interpret data to ensure analytical outputs are accurate and meaningful
- Collaborate with data engineers to improve data accessibility and usability for reporting purposes
- Develop user guides and business documentation for dashboards, reports, and analytical products
- Maintain documentation on reporting methodologies, metric definitions, and analytical standards
- Support agile delivery activities such as requirements gathering, user story creation, and acceptance testing
- Explore automation opportunities to improve reporting and analytics workflows
Requirements
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis
- Hands-on experience with dashboard and visualisation tools (e.g. Databricks, Power BI)
- Experience using Databricks or similar analytics platforms
- Ability to create compelling visualisations and data stories for diverse audiences
- Strong documentation and report-writing capabilities
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand operational and policy contexts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate technical findings into meaningful business insights
- Strong analytical mindset, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs
