About the role
Duties
Performs various tasks or a sequence of tasks in food service and preparation for the Child Development Center. Tasks consist of several steps that require attention to work operations. Follows set procedures in accomplishing repetitive assignments and follows an established sequence of work. Assists Cook in preparing simple food. Assists in food preparation with tasks such as peeling potatoes, cutting, sorting and washing vegetables and fruits, assembling sandwiches, measuring and weighting ingredients, etc. Incumbent stocks food service carts with appropriate utensils, plates, bowls, food and beverages, etc. as required for family style dining in the classrooms. Wraps, arranges, and/or packages items for serving to children. Transports food from kitchen area to classrooms. Removes dishes, glasses and silverware from carts. Pre-rinses and washes pots, pans, dishes, glasses and silverware in either a mechanical dishwasher or manually according to sanitation regulations. Cleans servicing carts, food prep areas, cupboards, drawers, and dishwashing area. Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas, such as cleaning ceilings, exhaust hoods, spaces under and behind kitchen equipment. Stores canned, boxed, and/or frozen items in food storage area. Unloads food and supplies from delivery trucks. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Must be 18 years of age and high school graduate or equivalent. Speak, read and write English. Must be able to pass background checks. Possess and maintain ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, stoop and stand on routine basis. Ability to complete all Department of Navy Child Development Program Training requirements within designated timeframe. Understanding of food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. Knowledge of basic arithmetic. Working knowledge of sanitation standards
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
