Description

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodial Specialist to join our team. This full-time position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for youth, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The Custodial Specialist reports to the Facilities Manager and works closely with leadership to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Custodial Duties

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, kitchens, and common areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, and polish floors as needed.
• Dust furniture, fixtures, windowsills, and other surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including desks, tables, door handles, light switches, and shared equipment.
• Clean mirrors, windows, and glass doors.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Restock restroom and janitorial supplies as needed.
• Remove debris from sidewalks, entrances, and outdoor common areas.
• Ensure all assigned areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
• Lock doors and secure the building at the end of the workday when assigned.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
• Complete cleaning logs and other required documentation accurately and timely.
• Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with room setup and cleanup for meetings, programs, and special events as needed.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson safety policies and procedures.
• Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and OSHA standards.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Immediately report safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
• Participate in required safety training and emergency preparedness drills.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of custodial, janitorial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Experience working in schools, community centers, nonprofit organizations, or youth-serving environments is a plus.

Other Requirements

• Valid Arizona Driver License preferred.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification if required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The Custodial Specialist must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks and work both indoors and outdoors as needed.
