Curriculum Developer

About This Role

Developing training materials and operational guidance for maritime operations is the core of this role, which requires a passionate Technical Writer with strong expertise in translating complex maritime concepts into clear, concise documentation. This position involves collaborating with stakeholders, meticulous editing, and developing instructional content.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize disparate training materials, engineering manuals, and PowerPoint presentations from multiple vendors and government commands into a single, cohesive modular training package
• Assist in converting raw technical data into formal Navy/Joint lesson plans, Trainee Guides, and standardized instructor presentations
• Produce and maintain manuals, technical documents, training guides, and policy documents
• Edit and refine technical content, ensuring compliance with organizational style guides and readability standards
• Evaluate existing communications and recommend improvements for clarity, consistency, and effectiveness
• Ensure technical accuracy and completeness of all deliverables

Requirements

• A minimum Top Secret security clearance or higher is required
• Three years of experience in:
  • Collaborating with technical customer to understand and accurately document complex technical concepts
  • Editing and proofreading existing documentation for accuracy and readability
  • Providing analysis and recommendations for communications
  • Developing written products (e.g. informational materials, operating procedures, and policy) based on information provided by stakeholders
  • Web-based instructional design maintenance
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, business, or technical discipline

Nice to have:

• Experience with Department of War and/or Intelligence Community technical/educational programs
• A minimum of 100 hours of curriculum development experience
• A U.S. Navy Master Training Specialist certification, U.S. Navy Instructor NEC, or equivalent
• Seven years of experience related to technical writing (if desired education and experience qualifications are not met), with three of these seven years demonstrating experience in collaborating with technical customers, editing documentation, providing communications analysis, developing written products, and web-based instructional design maintenance
