Job Title: Credit Union Sales Representative

Assignment Type: Contract-to-Hire — approximately 4 months, with potential conversion to a permanent position based on performance and business needs

Pay: $24.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM | 40 hours per week

Overtime is not expected and would require prior management approval.

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Our client is a member-focused financial services organization seeking an early-career sales professional to join its Marketing and Business Development team. This is an onsite opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, engaging with customers, supporting community events, and working toward sales goals.

Job Description:

The Business Development Outbound Sales Representative will help grow customer relationships by proactively reaching out to members and prospective customers, learning about their financial needs, and connecting them with appropriate products and services.

This position combines outbound sales, customer relationship management, financial services, and event support. The ideal candidate is personable, confident on the phone, goal-oriented, organized, and comfortable representing an organization at community and marketing events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make outbound calls to customers and prospective customers to identify opportunities and introduce relevant financial products and services.
  • Use active listening and consultative questioning to understand customer goals and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Explain available products, features, and benefits in an easy-to-understand and professional manner.
  • Guide customers through account, membership, and application processes while ensuring information is complete and accurate.
  • Assist with consumer lending inquiries and other financial service requests as appropriate.
  • Build lasting customer relationships through responsive service, professionalism, transparency, and consistent follow-through.
  • Generate additional business through referrals and relationship development with existing community and organizational partners.
  • Participate in networking, promotional, and community events and assist with event setup and marketing materials.
  • Travel periodically to events within the Washington, DC and Reston, VA areas.
  • Work toward individual and team sales goals while maintaining a strong customer-service focus.
  • Maintain accurate customer and activity records and provide updates on business development activity.
  • Follow applicable financial services policies, procedures, and federal and state regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 1–2 years of relevant experience; strong internship experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; an Associate degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field may be considered.
  • Background in sales, marketing, banking, financial services, customer service, events, trade shows, or business development is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and telephone communication skills.
  • Strong listening and relationship-building abilities.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and making outbound sales calls.
  • Demonstrated ability to work toward measurable sales objectives.
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment and make decisions with limited information.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, professional, and results-oriented.
  • Outgoing personality with a polished and mature professional presence.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation due to occasional travel to business and marketing events.

Additional Details:

  • This is an onsite position in Washington, DC .
  • Occasional travel to the Reston, VA area will be required for events.
  • Candidates must be available for the full 2–3 week training program in Washington, DC . Attendance throughout the training period is required.
