Credit Manager

About This Role

This Credit Manager role involves overseeing counterparty credit risk and portfolio health for an international energy trading firm. Reporting to the Credit Risk Lead, the manager will be responsible for managing the credit portfolio and assessment frameworks across the APAC and MENA regions, driving credit decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the credit evaluation of the Company's trading counterparties
• Manage total portfolio exposure
• Approve or provide definitive recommendations for counterparties' credit limits
• Drive advanced bunker credit risk assessments
• Formulate risk mitigation strategies
• Gather market intelligence
• Ensure the timely deactivation of high-risk trading counterparties' limits
• Act as the direct escalation point for abnormal credit situations and daily monitoring flags raised by the analyst team
• Develop new risk reporting frameworks, analytical tools, and credit solutions from scratch to optimize portfolio visibility
• Lead major ad-hoc credit-related initiatives, including deep-dive industry/sector reviews and macro portfolio risk analysis

Requirements

• Recognized Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years (ideally more for Manager level) of solid credit risk assessment and portfolio management experience within trading houses, suppliers, bunker markets, credit rating agencies, or banks in the APAC/MENA region
• Advanced financial and cash flow analysis skills, with a proven track record of managing complex corporate credit portfolios
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently across different time zones to manage risk effectively

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in Chinese (including Cantonese and Mandarin) for regional counterparty management
• VBA capabilities in Excel
