About the role
Summary Description:
The Credit Analyst will be responsible for underwriting, client onboarding and credit monitoring for the Commercial Banking group’s clients in Asia, which is one of the largest and fastest-growing portfolios within Asia Global Banking. This position will be based in Shanghai, China
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Credit Support & Analysis
- Assist in underwriting including financial statements analysis for new and existing borrowing clients for bilateral and syndicated loans.
- Prepare commercial credit concept memos (i.e., greenlight memo), credit proposals and assist in loan documentation and approval processes.
- Conduct market research, industry trends and peer analysis to support deal structuring, client and pricing strategy.
- Monitor sectors for red flags and to anticipate client needs and apply risks mitigants.
Portfolio Monitoring
- Track loan performance, covenants compliance, and reporting deadlines.
- Conduct annual and interim renewals.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with financial and regulatory compliance.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Support Relationship Managers and senior team members in client communications and onboarding.
- Support in customer due diligence for credit and AML/TF compliance.
- Coordinate with legal counsel, Credit Supervision, Credit Administration, and Operations teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in commercial banking and credit analysis.
- Familiarity with China cross-border risk, basic commercial lending principles.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with Moody’s or similar credit tools; or loan market tools such as Debtdomain, and LSEG Loan Connector is a plus.
- Fluency in written and spoken in English and Mandarin is required.
- Strong client-facing interpersonal skills.
- Team player, self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
