Credit Analyst

About This Role

Supporting the credit and collections process for construction and materials projects is the main focus of this role. The Credit Analyst manages customer accounts, coordinates with internal departments, and ensures accurate billing and payment application. This position is responsible for maintaining strong communication with customers and project teams, preparing lien waivers, and assisting with billing packages, while performing accounting tasks to ensure compliance and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Actively support the achievement of company and business unit goals and objectives by performing collections for the Credit Department to assist in minimizing potential losses to the company
• Collaborate across the company and support consistent technical practices
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and standards that protect the company’s assets
• Promote and protect Teichert’s values including teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others in order to maintain a “team” spirit within the business unit and on project teams; work and cooperate with other disciplines across company lines to ensure maximum and best uses of Teichert resources
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers
• Maintain a positive impression of the department and company with external customers through professional interactions
• Promote and protect the community perception of Teichert
• Respond to customer inquiries professionally, research and resolve account discrepancies, and serve as a communication liaison between customers and internal departments to ensure timely issue resolution
• Set up new customers and job accounts in the Vista ERP system in coordination with project teams
• Manage collection of construction receivables by coordinating with Project Accounting on billing and conducting regular follow-ups with customers to monitor payment status and resolve outstanding balances
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather missing documentation or resolve issues that delay payment
• Maintain strong cross-functional relationships, particularly with construction operations, to support billing and collections processes
• Validate daily cash payment variances and review aging reports to ensure accurate application of adjustments and prioritize collection efforts for construction and materials accounts
• Assist in the submittal of monthly billing packages, including initial and follow-up lien waivers, in alignment with construction billing cycles
• Issue updated lien waivers to reflect received payments and maintain compliance with project and legal requirements
• Perform a range of routine to complex accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to critical deadlines
• Monitor customer accounts to identify early indicators of financial risk and recommend adjustments to credit terms as needed
• Collaborate with operations and legal teams to evaluate project-specific risks, including contract terms and lien rights
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date credit documentation and account records within internal systems
• Assist with periodic credit reviews, audits, and the preparation of reports for senior management
• Stay informed on industry trends, construction market conditions, and payment risk factors to support sound credit decisions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of training and related experience
• 1-3 years in a Commercial Credit environment or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience
• Knowledge of the Construction industry is a plus
• Credit Business Associate (CBA) designation from NACM or ability to obtain required
• Proficient in computer software skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Proficient in ten-key
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment
• Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve issues to resolution
• Demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, remaining composed and professional

Important Details

• Reports to: Credit Manager
• Direct reports: None
• External clients: Vendors, Contractors, Financial Institutions, and Government Agencies
• Internal clients: Project Accounting, Finance, Contracts, and all employees of the Teichert Family of Companies
• Equipment used: Company issued computer, telephone, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection), office machines
• Physical demands: Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling in confined or enclosed spaces. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.
• Work environment: Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise.
