Credentialing Specialist

About This Role

Supporting healthcare providers in meeting all necessary regulatory, professional, and institutional requirements is the core purpose of this on-site role. As a Credentialing Specialist, you will manage the credentialing and privileging processes for medical professionals, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory bodies. This position is essential to maintaining the integrity of the healthcare network and supporting medical specialists in delivering quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete credentialing and privileging process for medical specialists and healthcare providers
• Verify and validate professional credentials, licenses, certifications, and qualifications
• Coordinate with healthcare providers to gather required documentation and application materials
• Conduct thorough background checks and verify employment history, education, and professional references
• Maintain detailed records of all credentialing files and ensure documentation is organized and up-to-date
• Communicate with medical boards, licensing agencies, and other regulatory bodies to confirm credentials
• Monitor credentialing timelines and ensure all applications are processed efficiently
• Identify discrepancies or issues in provider credentials and escalate to management as needed
• Prepare credentialing reports and recommendations for committee review
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and other relevant regulatory requirements
• Support the ongoing monitoring and recredentialing of active providers
• Liaise with insurance companies and managed care organizations regarding provider networks

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field is preferred
• 2–3 years of experience in healthcare credentialing, provider relations, or similar healthcare administrative role
• Strong knowledge of credentialing standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance procedures in the healthcare industry
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple credentialing files simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and healthcare information systems
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document review and data entry
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers and regulatory agencies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, licensing requirements, and credentialing best practices
• Professional certification in healthcare credentialing (such as CPPS – Certified Professional in Provider Credentialing) is a plus
