Duties
The Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting for a Credentialing Program Assistant. The Credentialing Program Assistant will function in the Medical Staff Office under Chief of Staff. The Credentialing Program Assistant duties include:
- Processing initial /renewal applications.
- Initiating the credentialing process utilizing VetPro.
- Verifying information provided is complete and requesting additional information and forms if required.
- Verifying education, training, licenses, certifications, registrations, and professional experience, etc.
- Scanning credentialing/verification documents in VetPro and filing documents in Credentialing Folders.
- Performing work involving the collection, compilation, and or tracking of data in support of the credentialing and privileging program.
- Utilizing the purchase card for the purpose of verifying credentialing information.
- Gathering information for initial employment and/or continued employment of licensed independent/dependent healthcare practitioners.
- Corresponding with colleges/universities, hospitals, licensing/certifying boards, previous employers as well as peers/colleagues for the purpose of verifying credentials.
- Maintaining credentials information in VetPro to facilitate completion of initial appointments and reappointments within designated timeframes.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements within 15 calendar days of the closing date listed on the announcement:
- Time in grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a General Schedule (GS) grade at any point in the last 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 level.
- Applicants must be eligible under the VA Interchange Agreement, having served continuously for at least one year in the other merit system under this interchange agreement.
- All Title 38 Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) employees must have served in their Excepted Service position for at least 90 days in order to be eligible for a position within the Competitive Service.
- Applicants who were previously selected under a Competitive Delegating Examining Unit (DEU) announcement must have served in their position for at least 90 days prior to being eligible for other positions within the Competitive Service.

Specialized Experience:
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Credentialing Program Assistant. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to: operating a personal computer; verifying accuracy and completeness of information on paper or computer documents or records; maintaining security or confidentiality of records, equipment, or computer access; correcting mistakes in written or computer documents or records; gathering information, entering data, formulating letters, reports or other documents; and compiling information.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
