About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Creative Strategist to help build a repeatable, scalable performance creative engine for a fast-growing e-commerce brand.

This role combines creative strategy, customer research, direct-response copywriting, storytelling, and creative production.

You’ll be responsible for researching customers and competitors, identifying winning creative opportunities, developing concepts and angles, writing hooks and scripts, and creating detailed briefs that video editors and creative producers can execute.

This is a high-output role for someone who understands not just how to create ads, but why certain creative works and how to systematically develop new ideas from what is already performing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Creative Strategy & Concept Development

You’ll be responsible for approximately 20 creative concepts per week:

  • 10 net-new concepts
  • 10 strategic iterations of existing winning concepts

We’re not looking for 20 versions of the same ad.

You should be able to identify why a concept worked and determine how to strategically expand, challenge, or evolve it.

Creative angles may include:

  • New hooks
  • New customer insights
  • Different pain points
  • Different emotional triggers
  • New mechanisms
  • New story structures
  • Product-focused concepts
  • Founder/brand storytelling
  • Customer stories
  • Educational concepts
  • Objection handling
  • Social proof
  • Lifestyle/workplace scenarios
  • Variations of proven winners

2. Storyboarding & Creative Briefs

You’ll turn your ideas into clear, actionable production briefs.

Each brief should include:

  • Core creative concept
  • Customer insight
  • Target audience
  • Hook
  • Script
  • Story structure
  • B-roll direction
  • Visual treatment
  • On-screen text
  • CTA
  • References/examples
  • Production notes
  • Testing hypothesis

We want someone with filmmaker’s intuition who doesn’t just write a script but can visualize the finished ad.

You should naturally think about:

  • What the viewer sees
  • What they hear
  • Pacing
  • Shot selection
  • B-roll
  • Visual hooks
  • Transitions
  • Story progression
  • Where attention may drop
  • How to make an idea feel authentic rather than overly produced

3. Expert-Level Copywriting

You must be a strong copywriter first, not someone who depends on AI to write.

You should be able to independently create:

  • Scroll-stopping hooks
  • Direct-response scripts
  • UGC concepts
  • Product-focused messaging
  • Emotional storytelling
  • Benefit-driven copy
  • Objection handling
  • CTAs
  • Short-form advertising scripts

Your copy needs to sound like a real human talking to another real human.

Understanding the language and mindset of the target customer is critical.

4. AI Philosophy

We intentionally want limited AI usage in this role.

We’re looking for someone whose creative ability comes from experience, observation, research, and judgment, not from prompting AI.

You may use AI when you’ve developed an agentic workflow, automation, or custom skill that genuinely improves your process or produces a better-quality outcome.

AI should amplify your expertise, not replace it.

5. Multi-Region Creative Adaptation

You should understand that effective localization is about more than translation.

You should be able to adapt:

  • Language
  • Tone
  • Cultural references
  • Customer pain points
  • Desires
  • Humor
  • Expressions
  • Buying motivations
  • Product positioning

Strong familiarity with U.S. culture and consumer language is important.

6. Work With Copywriters & Video Editors

You’ll work closely with the creative production team to turn strategy into finished ads.

You’ll:

  • Collaborate with copywriters
  • Brief video editors
  • Review creative drafts
  • Give specific, actionable feedback
  • Ensure creative matches the original strategic concept
  • Identify opportunities to improve execution
  • Help maintain a consistent creative standard
  • Move projects quickly through production

You should be able to explain why something isn’t working, rather than simply saying “make it better.”

7. Creative Performance & Project Management

You’ll help manage the creative pipeline from:

Research → Strategy → Brief → Production → Review → Launch → Performance → Iteration

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Tracking creative output
  • Managing multiple concepts simultaneously
  • Maintaining deadlines
  • Tracking iterations
  • Monitoring winning concepts
  • Documenting creative learnings
  • Using performance data to inform future concepts
  • Communicating blockers quickly
  • Keeping the creative team organized

  • Several years of real-world creative strategy experience
  • Strong professional copywriting experience
  • Proven experience creating performance advertising
