About This Role
This courier position involves transporting a variety of items for the Suffolk County Department of Law. The role includes associated clerical tasks, various deliveries, mail delivery, and routine vehicle maintenance, suiting an individual responsible for reliable transport and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Perform service of checks and subpoenas to persons involved in cases handled by the Family Court Bureau
- Deliver mail and records to Central Islip and Riverhead offices, and to other county agencies
- File legal documents in courts in Riverhead and Central Islip
- Pick up and drop off Archive boxes and other materials in Westhampton
- Deliver legal documents to law firms in Suffolk County and Nassau County
- Deliver medical records to doctor's offices
- Perform receptionist duties and clerical tasks such as photocopying, archiving, answering phones, and other tasks as needed
- Operate and maintain assigned county vehicles
- Help to maintain other county vehicles assigned to the department
Requirements
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
- Two years of driving experience as a messenger, courier, or other paid driver responsible for the transport of passengers or materials; OR
- Two years of experience as a Driver Messenger
- Possess the appropriate New York State driver's license and maintain such license through employment in this title
