About the role
Job Description:
IHOP is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Counter Associate to provide outstanding guest service and support daily restaurant operations. This role is responsible for greeting guests, taking orders, processing payments, preparing takeout orders, maintaining a clean front counter area, and ensuring every customer receives a positive dining experience. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and enjoys working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests with a friendly and professional attitude
- Take customer orders accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system
- Process cash, credit, debit, and mobile payments
- Prepare and organize takeout and pickup orders
- Answer customer questions regarding menu items and promotions
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front counter and dining areas
- Restock beverages, utensils, condiments, and front counter supplies
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and company operating procedures
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and courteously
- Assist with opening and closing duties
- Perform additional customer service and restaurant duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in customer service, cashier, or restaurant operations preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic cash handling and POS system knowledge preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
