Cost Accountant

About This Role

This role supports financial operations, job cost accounting, and reporting within a growing construction/homebuilding environment. Reporting to the VP of Finance/Controller, the Cost Accountant maintains accurate project cost records, assists with month-end close activities, supports budgeting and forecasting efforts, and partners with construction and purchasing teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build expertise in construction or real estate accounting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile job cost records for active projects
• Review and process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and change orders
• Assist with month-end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Prepare job cost reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and financial reporting support
• Track committed costs, budget variances, and subcontractor/vendor accounts
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis
• Ensure organized, audit-ready documentation and compliance with internal controls
• Collaborate with construction and purchasing teams on cost tracking and approvals
• Assist with process improvements and special finance projects
