Corrections Officer

About This Role

This role involves enforcing rules and regulations within a correctional facility, maintaining order by monitoring inmate behavior, and ensuring the safety of staff, security, and inmates. It is a critical position that requires vigilant observation and intervention, and may involve mandatory overtime.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate conduct and prevent escapes or violence
• Escort inmates within and outside the facility
• Conduct searches for contraband and inspect security features
• Maintain discipline using approved methods and equipment
• Monitor facility access and screen visitors
• Record inmate information and incidents
• Oversee inmate schedules, duties, and recreational activities
• Complete required documentation and reports
• Assist with clerical tasks and facility operations
• Transport inmates and perform head counts
• Operate radios, secure gates, and attend training

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal, observational, and communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency
• Ability to apply use-of-force guidelines professionally
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with clean record
• Must pass interview, polygraph, physical exam, and background check

Important Details

• Schedule: May be required to work up to 16 hours on mandatory overtime
