About This Role
This corporate counsel role involves providing proactive, timely, accurate, cost-effective, and commercial legal advice to support Santos' Australian and Papua New Guinean Upstream Oil & Gas operations. The position is based in Brisbane, supporting the business across Australia and PNG, and offers exposure to world-class energy projects within an ASX20 global energy company.
Responsibilities
- Support the Australian and Papua New Guinean Upstream Oil & Gas Legal Team
- Provide strategic, risk-focused advice to all aspects of Santos’ business, including in relation to commercial contracts, negotiations, disputes, joint venture arrangements, regulatory, compliance, approvals matters, land access, native title, and cultural heritage
- Work alongside senior leaders and gain exposure to world-class energy projects
Requirements
- 3-6 years of post-qualification experience (either or both in private practice and in-house)
- Hold a law degree
- Admitted as a solicitor in Queensland
- Business outcomes focused
- Demonstrate the ability to proactively anticipate legal obstacles and risks and develop proactive plans to address them
- Legal work rights for Australia
