About This Role
This corporate counsel role involves a variety of research and legal matters, with a focus on supporting the business from a compliance standpoint. The position requires full-time on-site attendance in the Pontiac office.
Responsibilities
- Assist with researching and responding to compliance questions from the business
- Perform daily administrative duties pertaining to the Legal/Compliance team
- Review, monitor, and summarize new and updated laws and regulations
- Research and analyze law sources such as federal and state statutes and regulations
- Support regulatory filings
- Assist with managing company policies and procedures
- Assist with Legal/Compliance trainings
- Perform clerical duties such as scheduling meetings and composing and typing routine correspondence
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's and Law Degree
- 1+ years of post-graduate experience
- License to practice law
- Experience performing legal research
- Compliance and legal writing experience
- Commitment to continuous business improvement
- Capability of working closely with internal clients and outside counsel
- Effective planning, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and able to work well in a team-based environment
