Corporate Counsel

About This Role

This Corporate Counsel role involves reviewing, drafting, and negotiating agreements with travel supply partners globally. The position provides legal counsel to the Expedia Group Supply team and other business partners on various issues, including contract interpretation, risk management, and regulatory compliance. It suits a legal professional with experience in contract negotiation and a strong understanding of the travel/hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate agreements with travel supply partners throughout the world
• Provide general legal counsel and advice to the Expedia Group Supply team and other business partners on a range of issues including contract interpretation, internal standards and practices, risk management, insolvencies, pre-litigation disputes, changes in law and regulatory risk
• Select outside counsel and manage counsel spend to budget
• Draft, update, and train on form contracts and contracting playbooks
• Support strategic business and legal initiatives, as well as collaborate with key internal partners such as the privacy, security, tax, and treasury teams
• Own key client relationships with internal clients
• Delegate work to and supervise paralegals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, or related field
• 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Corporate Counsel-related occupation
• Admitted to practice law in a US or foreign jurisdiction
• Legal drafting, including contract drafting, dispute response, and legal memorandum
• Contract negotiation and review
• Client interviewing
• Formulating and delivering legal advice
• Knowledge and understanding of travel/hospitality industry (hotel, vacation rental, cruise)
• Microsoft Office technologies (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook)
• Legal operations technologies including eBilling, contract management, and eSignature
• Collaboration tools such as Service Now, JIRA or Think Smart Automated Platform (TAP) tools
