Corporate Automation & Controls Engineer IV

About This Role

This Corporate Automation and Controls Engineer IV role provides technical expertise and direction for control and automation systems, assisting with data acquisition and production network management. The position will have responsibility for multiple plants or for projects affecting multiple plants, and is also responsible for troubleshooting electrical problems related to the production line process. It involves general engineering work supporting technical innovation, complex system design, and advanced problem-solving, leading high-impact engineering projects and establishing technical standards without formal people-management accountability.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary internal engineering resource concerning control systems
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance
• Share best practices across the organization
• Help create and maintain controls team standards
• Share and enforce standards across the organization
• Lead and facilitate strategic projects that cover multiple plants
• Lead and facilitate new plants/processes
• Provide plant support in instances where local plant personnel or regionals are struggling
• Provide relevant training for control systems where applicable
• Provide troubleshooting expertise through remote support and onsite support when necessary
• Provide ongoing technical guidance and coaching/mentoring to plant controls personnel and regional engineers to strengthen their troubleshooting and repair skills
• Coordinate with controls group for information and standards
• Maintain knowledge of contemporary technology and its application to this industry
• Communicate with controls team members through attendance at controls team meetings, conference calls, technical support (Based on GAF policies)
• Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of the manager of this position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 5+ Years of Controls Engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment

Nice to have:

• 10+ Years of Controls Engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
