System Government Costing

The Coordinator of Government Costing will, under supervision and training, perform data gathering, perform analyses, review of service activity rates, calculation of the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) indirect cost, fringe benefit, and tuition remission rates, and other projects as assigned. This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement depending on unit operational needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and perform analysis of service center rate calculations. Meet with University departments to learn about their operations and provide guidance in the development of their rates, as well as subsequent in-person, phone, and/or email communications to obtain data about their service center activities.

  • Provide in-person and online training sessions to service center customers, including monthly in-person formal training sessions and other one-on-one and small group trainings as requested by University departments.

  • Execute numerous costing databases, queries, and reports in support of all costing functions and operations as required.

  • Assist in preparation of the Facilities & Administration Rate proposals.

  • Assist in preparation of the "University Administration Calculation" for all three universities' facilities and Administrative Rate proposals.

  • Prepare data for the Fringe Benefit Rate proposals.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities appropriate for a Coordinator of Government Costing position as assigned to include: perform data analysis for the Tuition Remission Rate calculations; compile and issue rate communications; and prepare responses to audit requests related to the Defense Contract Audit Agency's (DCAA) audits of F&A proposals, Fringe Benefits proposals, and Tuition Remission rates.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience.

OR

Possession of current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA).

OR

Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field.

Additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required:

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous work experience at an institution of higher education or government institution.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Preferred:

  • Previous work experience at an institution of higher education or government institution.

  • Working knowledge of Banner programs/applications and SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence.

  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and state and federal regulations related to cost accounting, sponsored project administration, and rate development.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5000 - Accounting Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after August 3rd, 2026. The budgeted salary range for the position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
