About This Role
This cook or prep cook position supports the kitchen team at a Lao, Thai, and Japanese restaurant, preparing ingredients and cooking dishes during service. The role suits a dependable and hardworking individual who enjoys cooking and takes pride in preparing quality food, with opportunities for those with restaurant experience or those eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh ingredients, including meats, seafood, vegetables, herbs, noodles, and rice
- Prepare sauces, marinades, curry bases, and other kitchen preparations
- Prepare dishes to order during service while maintaining consistent food quality and portion sizes
- Operate woks, fryers, grills, stoves, ovens, and other kitchen equipment
- Follow recipes and maintain consistent flavor, quality, and presentation
- Set up, stock, and maintain your work area throughout service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
- Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and general kitchen duties
- Communicate and work effectively with the kitchen team
- Help maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen during busy service periods
Requirements
- Previous restaurant or kitchen experience preferred
- Experience with Lao, Thai, Japanese, or other Asian cuisine is a plus
- Wok cooking experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food quality
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Evening and weekend availability preferred
