About This Role
Monitoring the operation of various systems, processes, and equipment is the primary responsibility of the Control Room Operator, ensuring compliance with all company, safety, and environmental requirements for kiln and mill operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain continual observation of all processes through recordings, control system indications, monitors, and visual observation when necessary
- Ensure kiln and mill operation is in compliance with MSHA and company safety standards
- Ensure kiln and mill operation is in environmental compliance
- Monitor laboratory test results during shift and take corrective action as necessary to meet quality and quantity standards
- Manipulate controls to maintain optimum production rates and to prevent equipment damage
- Detect indications of equipment malfunction and report malfunctions to supervisors
- Maintain records and prepare reports in accordance with established procedures
- Work to keep costs related to work in line with the plant budget and be alert for ways to reduce costs of operations, maintenance, and repairs
- Maintain work area in clean and organized condition
- Work overtime and rotating shift schedules assigned
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas
- Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3-5 years in a cement operation
- Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office Applications
- Good math and logic skills
- Adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators
- Employees required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
