About the role
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support and enhance automation systems within a polyurethane foam manufacturing environment for automotive seating. This is a hands-on, on-site role working closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Programming
- Design and program PLC/HMI systems for foam manufacturing equipment
- Work with Modicon and Allen Bradley PLCs (future transition to Siemens)
- Develop logic using ladder, function block, and SCL (preferred)
- Create operator interfaces and SCADA systems using Aveva InTouch
Process Control & Optimization
- Monitor and optimize processes (mixing, curing, cutting)
- Implement control strategies for temperature, pressure, and chemical dosing
- Troubleshoot automation issues to minimize downtime
Maintenance & Support
- Provide technical support for automation and production equipment
- Develop and maintain PM procedures for controls and instrumentation
- Maintain PLC program archives and system documentation
Project Management
- Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors
- Manage timelines and capital budgets
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls Engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience (automotive interiors preferred)
- Experience installing automated systems (assembly lines, robotic cells)
