About the role
Duties
- From a centralized location, the incumbent operates hydroelectric power plants and switchyards
- Controls water release equipment, such as jet flow gates, hollow jet valves, drum gates, guard gates, and radial gates to control river flow or forebay elevations
- Coordinates power clearances with transmission and generation dispatchers
- Under emergency conditions, sustains and/or restores delivery of critical water and power generation
- Develops and reports generation schedules and reports to Power Authority
- Operates and reports in accordance with current North American Electric Reliability Corporation/Western Electricity Coordinating Council (NERC/WECC) standards and regulatory requirements
