Contract Attorney

About This Role

This contract attorney position involves representing financially distressed individuals across the country, handling collection actions, creditor harassment, and wage garnishments. The role primarily entails remote work, with court appearances as necessary, and focuses on providing legal counsel and representation to clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
• Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel
• Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
• Maintain active communication with Guardian's legal assistants and clients, responding to requests in a timely fashion to ensure cases are handled efficiently
• Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for associate attorneys, case managers, and other support staff

Requirements

• Successfully completed law school, passed the state bar exam, and have a completed Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in Idaho
• Proficiency to work with Guardian’s attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our clientele
• Phenomenal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills required to efficiently work with clients, other attorneys, case managers, and other support staff
• Prior experience in debtor rights, including collections actions, FDCPA/TCPA/FCRA, and bankruptcy is a huge plus!
