Consumer Safety Officer (Data Manager)

Duties

The incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:

• Serve as the point of contact for data management and reporting activities related to regulatory management systems(s), used to track, manage and report on regulatory submissions.
• Streamline and organize report generation to ensure the process is efficient and reports are concise and useful.
• Support report accessibility to develop a quality framework for the maintenance and ready access of routine reports and evaluate a process for management of ad hoc requests.
• Work closely with relevant stakeholders, data stewards, project/program managers, business owners and other IT teams to turn data into critical information knowledge that can be used to make sound organization decisions.
• Serve as liaison with agency data management and information technology components and assures that tracking systems are aligned with current agency initiatives. Represent task forces, committees, and working groups that deal with submission tracking and reporting issues.

Qualifications

Basic Education Requirement:

All applications must meet the following Basic Education requirement for the Consumer Safety Officer (Data Manager), GS-0696-14:

A. Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: biological sciences, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours can include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that include principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: courses consisting of at least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

And in order to qualify for Consumer Safety Officer (Data Manager), GS-0696-14, you must meet the following:

Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 level pay band systems in federal service to include experience planning, organizing and implementing projects related to data information management and data reporting, consistent with strategies and goals for data governance and data standards, used to track, manage and report on regulatory submissions for products regulated under the FD&C Act.

Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.
