Construction Superintendent - Outdoor Construction

About This Role

This field-focused construction leadership role involves taking ownership of the jobsite, leading crews and subcontractors, and ensuring work progresses smoothly. The Superintendent is responsible for understanding construction processes, setting clear expectations, and coordinating resources to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. The role combines hands-on field leadership with schedule coordination, cost awareness, and clear reporting, requiring the ability to recognize issues early, solve daily problems, and keep the Director of Construction informed.

Responsibilities

• Lead company crews and subcontractors in the field, set clear expectations, and verify that work meets the project scope and quality standards
• Plan and manage assigned jobs, including schedules, trade sequencing, crew assignments, and material and equipment needs
• Keep jobs moving by coordinating deliveries, resolving field issues, and adjusting the work plan when conditions change
• Maintain safe, organized jobsites, inspect completed work, and drive punch-list completion and final closeout
• Track labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and progress against the budget; identify overruns early and recommend corrective action
• Document scope changes and potential extra costs, and coordinate approval before additional work proceeds
• Provide regular updates to the Director of Construction on schedule, budget, completed work, upcoming activities, and issues requiring a decision
• Communicate professionally with customers and trade partners about job progress and site coordination

Requirements

• Approximately five or more years of relevant construction experience preferred, including at least two years leading jobs, crews, or subcontractors. Equivalent demonstrated experience and ability will be considered
• Ability to read plans and specifications, understand the scope of work, and sequence multiple trades effectively
• Practical understanding of job costs, scheduling, material coordination, and quality control
• Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and the confidence to address problems directly and professionally
• Ability to maintain useful job notes, progress photos, schedules, and cost updates using everyday digital tools
• Ability to work on active outdoor construction sites and travel between jobs throughout Dallas–Fort Worth

Nice to have:

• Experience with outdoor living, pools, concrete and hardscapes, sport courts, turf, landscaping, surfacing, or sitework is a plus
• Candidates with residential, remodeling, or commercial construction backgrounds are also welcome if they can demonstrate transferable field-management skills
• No college degree is required
