Construction Representative - Higher Education

About This Role

This role involves managing the construction phase of projects, ensuring timely completion, and providing daily field presence. The Construction Representative will handle document management, field coordination, and financial oversight, with a preference for candidates experienced in higher education projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage the construction schedule and ensure timely completion of the construction phase; provide daily field presence
• Manage documents and field office tasks including field reports, photos, drawing, minutes, and schedule
• Provide notice of contract noncompliance to the project team
• Participate in bidding, pre-con and construction process
• Schedule and coordinate FF&E, IT & Move management
• Manage field coordination of testing agencies, special services, Cx agent, etc.
• Oversee RFI and submittal process
• Maintain contingency logs and review certified payrolls
• Provide review and coordinate design team or other consultants’ reviews of contractors’ applications for payments
• Provide daily updates of potential financial concerns; review proposed change orders
• Track and monitor all work performed on time & material basis
• Handle on-site logistical and coordination discussions with client, contractors, and vendors
• Attend project meetings and schedule/coordinate owner consultant meetings
• Participate and assist, as requested, with Professional Development Training
• Participate in interviews upon request and seek opportunities with existing clients
• Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferred
• 5+ years of construction expertise, preferably in Higher Education
• OSHA-10 certification required
• Solid understanding of building construction, field construction, including codes & safety requirements
• Solid understanding of sequencing and scheduling
• Very good verbal and written communication skills
• Very good organizational skills
• Must be able to work well with co-workers, clients, and contractors
• Requires strong technical experience such as envelope, MEP, and/or FF&E
• Very good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Internet research
• Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions
