Concrete Finisher

About This Role

Working with different types of concrete and understanding the finishing process is central to this role for an experienced concrete finisher. The position involves setting forms, spreading and smoothing concrete, monitoring curing, and safely operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set forms that hold the concrete in place, ensuring correct depth and pitch
• Spread, level, and smooth concrete using come along, shovel, power trowel, power screed, and float
• Monitor the effects of weather conditions on the curing of the concrete
• Safely operate equipment like power vibrator, power trowel, power screed, and drills
• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surfaces
• Waterproof, damp-proof and restore concrete surfaces
• Direct the casting of concrete with the truck driver
• Rub concrete with abrasive stone to finish
• Remove rough/defective spots from the concrete surface, using power grinder, chisel or hammer
• Break up and repair old concrete surfaces, patch holes with fresh concrete
• Participate in routine maintenance and clean-up of job sites

Requirements

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a concrete finisher
• Knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in concrete finishing
• Physical strength and endurance, with the ability to work long hours, including overtime and weekends
• Reliable personal transportation
• Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions
• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Ability to handle the physical labor required, including lifting heavy items and working in varying weather conditions
