Compound Manager

Job Summary Are you ready to sit at the heart of the drug discovery pipeline? As Compound Manager, you will serve as the indispensable hub connecting medicinal chemistry, biology, and global CROs. You will safeguard and streamline the journey of every newly synthesized molecule-ensuring the high-value scientific assets driving pipeline innovation are accurately tracked, operationalized, and ready for breakthrough research.

Responsibilities

• Register synthesized and external compounds into electronic databases following strict nomenclature and metadata standards.
• Manage physical inventory, conduct audits, and oversee domestic and international sample logistics and shipments.
• Author SOPs, investigate deviations, and lead workflow continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for CROs and vendors to resolve logistics, customs, and metadata challenges.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, DMPK, and Informatics to support study execution and train personnel.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry a related scientific discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in compound management, medicinal chemistry support, pharmaceutical research operations, or a related scientific environment.
• Hands-on experience with compound registration platforms, electronic laboratory systems, and inventory management databases.
• Experience working with external CROs, vendors, or compound logistics networks.
• Working knowledge of chemical structures, nomenclature, compound handling, storage, and laboratory safety practices.
• Experience with compound registration software such as BIOVIA, Dotmatics, CDD Vault, ChemAxon, or an equivalent platform.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and database or inventory-tracking applications.
• Exceptional organization, prioritization, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced research environment.
• Clear, professional communication and effective collaboration across internal and external teams.

Preferred

• M.S. or equivalent experience.
• Some experience in python scripting.
• Familiarity with automated compound storage and retrieval systems and high-throughput screening support.
