Compliance Officer

About This Role

This role combines fieldwork, legislation, and community engagement to ensure regulatory compliance within the Nambucca Valley. The Compliance Officer will investigate complaints, inspect properties, and ensure development, land use, and environmental activities adhere to relevant legislation. It suits a practical, confident, and solutions-focused individual with an eye for detail and a sound understanding of legislation.

Responsibilities

• Investigate compliance matters by responding to complaints related to building works, land use, development approvals, and environmental concerns
• Conduct inspections and audits, monitoring development consent conditions, inspecting swimming pools, and auditing industrial operations
• Manage enforcement matters, investigating breaches, preparing reports, and issuing notices, orders, or infringements where required
• Work with the community by providing advice, resolving concerns, and liaising with residents, businesses, and government agencies

Requirements

• Ability to read, interpret, and apply legislation
• Strong analytical, administrative, and record-keeping skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and mediation skills
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Strong customer service and Microsoft Office skills
• A current Class C driver's license
